The popular Facebook-owned instant messaging platform starts testing for a very useful feature.

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to transfer chat history between iOS and Android devices , making it easier for users to switch between platforms.

The new function, in the early stages of development, was identified by WABetaInfo , which often shares new features of the instant messaging service. According to a WhatsApp specialist, a future update will allow users to transfer their chats from an iOS device to an Android device and vice versa, as long as both phones have the latest version of the app.

In the event that a smartphone has not installed the latest available version of the app, WhatApp will ask the user to update their app before being able to transfer the chats. At the moment, it is not possible to transfer chats between iOS and Android.

On iOS, WhatsApp uses iCloud to back up user data, making it easy to switch to a new iPhone and restore the messaging service history. On Android, the platform uses Google Drive for backup and restore.

What do you think of this new feature?
