WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging application belonging to Facebook, has published a post on the official blog introducing much news concerning mainly the management of groups that, thanks to new features, will be significantly improved. The company is gradually implementing the changes, making them available to all users in the latest version of the application. Below is the official changelog:
- Group description: a short text within the group info screen that allows you to set the purpose, rules, and topic of the group. When a new person enters the group, the description appears at the top of the chat.
- Settings for administrators: In the group settings, the administrator now has the ability to restrict which participants can change the object, the image and the description of the group.
- Overview of mentions: if you have been inactive in a group chat for some time, use the new @ button in the lower right corner of the chat (shown in the picture below showing the new feature on WhatsApp for Android) to quickly view messages where someone has mentioned or replied to you.
- Search for participants: find anyone in the group looking for the participants directly from the group info screen.
- Administrators can now revoke administrator privileges to other group participants and group creators can no longer be removed from the group they started.
- In addition, some changes have been made so that they cannot be continually added to a group after having abandoned it.
WhatsApp, available for free in the App Store, requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone.
