Version 2.20.50 of WhatsApp is officially available on the App Store.

Last week Facebook announced a new group video calling feature, ” Messenger Rooms “. In addition to arriving on Facebook Messenger, the company said it would also arrive on Instagram, WhatsApp and Portal.

Now, the new WhatsApp update offers support for encrypted video calls between up to eight participants.

Facebook’s plan for the new video call feature provides support for 50 people ” within a few weeks “, but has not said whether this will apply to all its messaging apps.

Here are the full release notes of version 2.20.50:

  • Video calls and group voice calls now support up to 8 participants. All participants must have the latest version of WhatsApp.
  • Visual enhancements for iOS 13 users including updating the message action menu.

You can download the new update for free on the App Store.
