Following the footsteps of Snapchat and Instagram, Facebook owns WhatsApp announced today the launch of “Status”, a new built functionality to allow users to share videos, photos and GIFs, which will vanished after 24 hours.
Status of WhatsApp is substantially identical to the function of “Stories” of Instagram and Snapchat, both of which allow users to share updates of daily life with friends and family with maturity after 24 hours.
With the status of WhatsApp, users can use the camera to share photos or videos that can be embellished with emoji, fragments of text and drawings. Status updates can be shared with your contacts or specific groups.
Through the new Status tab, WhatsApp users can view all the updates of their contacts shared in ‘app and respond privately. All status updates expire after a period of 24 hours.
The new feature is being rolled out in conjunction with the eighth birthday of WhatsApp Feb. 24.
