The culprit of the Twitter attacks dating back to last summer has been found. Apple’s account was also among the hacked accounts. The boy will have to serve 3 years in prison.

Do you remember the panic that was created on Twitter last summer? A hacker managed to get hold of the most influential accounts in the world by sending a message about bitcoins and defrauding thousands of people.

Not much time has passed since that event but the culprit has been tracked down. This is Graham Ivan Clark who, along with other hackers, compromised the Twitter account of figures like Obama, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Tesla’s Elon Musk and many others… including Apple.

A message was published on all these profiles inviting users to deposit bitcoins on a specific account, promising to send back double the amount. In reality the money was never returned and so the hackers stole over $ 100,000.

To date, Clark has admitted all guilt and has bargained for 3 years in prison and 3 years of probation. The boy was only 17 at the time of the attack and had succeeded in this feat by subjecting some Twitter employees to phone phishing to gain access to some social network management tools.
