Apple will launch four iPhone 5G models in the second half of 2020, with the group divided into two pairs of smaller and larger models, but a pairing will include 3D detection capabilities on the back and support for faster 5Wave-based 5G connections.
Recent rumors on the iPhone 12 have indicated device sizes , all equipped with OLED displays . In a note to investors seen by AppleInsider , JP Morgan believes that a quarter will be released in the fall of 2020 .
The analyst has two models with 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch displays , and two models with 6.1-inch displays . JP Morgan also suggests that two devices will offer higher-level ” Pro ” specifications , while others will have minor features.
The 6.1-inch models and 6.7-inch constitute the high-end coupling, and will be equipped with a triple camera lens with r 3D ilevamento . The other two, consisting of the 5.4-inch model and the other 6.1-inch variant, will have two rear cameras and no 3D detection.
Although all models will support 5G connectivity , the splitting of devices will also introduce variations on this function, since only the “Pro” coupling will include support for mmWave , allowing them to connect at very high speeds in cities and urban areas in which mmWave 5G is supported. All models, however, will support 5G less than 6 GHz, which is more widespread and stable than mmWave, but offers much slower speeds.
According to JP Morgan, all four new iPhone models ” will drive the potential acceleration in replacement cycles “. The four models will be launched in the same year that the iPhone SE 2 will be launched , which should be released in the first half of 2020 with a 4.7-inch LCD display .
Apple is assumed to change its iPhone release strategy in 2021, with the company expected to release two new iPhone models in the first half of 2021, followed by two more in the second half of the year.
