A new report reveals that LG Display is doubling the production of OLED displays for future Apple devices.
LG Display is planning to double its OLED display production capacity specifically for Apple, as the company is expected to include the technology in more devices in the future.
According to the report, LG Display, a subsidiary of LG, is investing in additional equipment to double the production of small OLED displays, from 30,000 per month to 60,000 . The display manufacturer declined to comment; however, the report cites a source that says the increased capacity will be almost entirely used for OLED displays intended for Apple devices.
Apple currently uses OLED displays in high-end iPhones and introduced the technology four years ago on the iPhone X. Low-end models of the iPhone, such as the iPhone XR and iPhone SE 2, continue to use LCD displays.
As we all know, in April the company led by Tim Cook introduced mini-LED displays on the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro model and the new display technology should also arrive on the much-rumored redesigned 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro. .
Despite the introduction of these new displays, Apple plans to bring OLED displays to iPad as well. Several rumors, in fact, claim that the next iPad Air model will be equipped with this panel.
