To the delight of many fans, Nokia will launch its own smartphone  Android . To get to this point, the company had to let go about the business of mobile devices, choose Windows Mobile as the only operating system for its smartphones and eventually sell its entire mobile division at Microsoft.

Nokia announced that it will license its brand, as well as all intellectual property, to a new company, called Global HMD . The agreement between the two companies provides for the launch of smartphones and tablets with Nokia brand for the next 10 years.

HMD acquired by Microsoft the right to use the Nokia brand, a transaction expected to close in the second half of 2016. The company intends to invest more than $ 500 million over the next three years to support the landing in the mobile device market.

Nokia actually has in the past launched an Android smartphone, but the operating system version was somewhat questionable and without any Google service present. This time things will be different. ” The new smartphones and tablets of HMD will be based on Android, combining an iconic brand in the world of mobile telephony with the main mobile operating system ,” the company announced.

At the head of the HMD will be Arto Nummela, former Nokia executive, and currently Microsoft after the acquisition of the mobile division of Nokia.
