Yesterday, Intel announced the new high-end laptop processors. Most likely these CPUs will be used in the MacBooks coming out this year.
Just in recent days there was rumored a permanent abandonment of Intel’s processors by Apple. According to the latest rumors, in fact, Apple would like to create their own CPU for Mac, just like the iPhone and the iPad. This change, however, will not happen this year, in fact, Apple is already preparing to integrate the latest Intel processors in the new line of MacBooks.
The much more interesting processors presented by Intel is the new Core i9. This is the first i9 model, dedicated exclusively for notebooks. The CPU has six cores and 12 threads with a base clock rate of 2.9 GHz and a Turbo Boost frequency of up to 4.8 GHz. This chip could be integrated into the 15-inch MacBook Pro, which will most likely be announced. during the WWDC this year.
In addition to the Core i9, Intel has also presented a new quad-core Core i5 and a Core i7 with the base clock that is around 2.3 GHz and 2.7 GHz. Both have clearly also provided the part dedicated to the graphics: Iris Plus. Unlike the 45 W of the Core i9, these chips consume only 28 W and could, therefore, be integrated into the new 13-inch MacBook and Mac Mini.
The new eighth-generation Intel processors are based on the technology called 14-nanometer Coffee Lake. This technology would allow an increase in performance of 50% with the same consumption and size.
