Microsoft updates the Office suite of apps for iPad by introducing an important novelty on iPad.

Microsoft today released updates to its Office suite of iPad apps, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Specifically, Word and PowerPoint for iPad now support Split View , which allows you to open two documents simultaneously side by side.

Split View can be accessed by clicking and holding on a document and dragging it to the left or right side of the screen. To exit the mode, simply drag the scroll line in the center of the screen to the left or right to close one of the documents and view the other in full screen.

Microsoft is also working to implement full support for the new trackpad controls introduced in iPadOS 13.4, but these are not yet available. The basic functionality of the trackpad is present, but Microsoft still has work to do to implement support for the full feature set.
