While iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8 can be installed on all devices on which the previous version of the operating system could be used, the same is not the case for Macs.

macOS 11 Big Sur in fact, could be installed on iMac Late 2014 and later and the same for MacBooks. macOS 12 Monterey, on the other hand, requires a 2015 computer , so it can be installed on late 2015 and later iMacs or on early 2015 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. Here is the complete list:

Unfortunately, if you, like me, have an iMac late 2014, Big Sur will be the last version of the operating system that you can use and you will not be able to try the new Monterey.
