The analyst closes the year with a forecast on the photographic sector of the next iPhone in the Pro line.

Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions for this 2021 are not over yet. The reliable analyst, in a recent research note, says that the iPhone 14 will have a 48 megapixel camera and that it will have to wait until 2023 for a periscope lens.

Kuo did not give more details, but in the past he has stated that – in his opinion – the 48 megapixel camera will be exclusive to the Pro models of the iPhone 14 , as well as well as the ability to record videos in 8K resolution (to be watched later with the much rumored AR / VR headset coming in 2022 ).

The analyst also called into question the process known as pixel binning , already in use on some Android smartphones (such as Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra). In summary, pixel binning would allow the iPhone 14 Pro to take 48megapixel photos in excellent light conditions and 12megapixel photos in poor quality conditions, in order to preserve the quality .

Finally, as for the periscope lens in 2023 , it would also result in an improvement in the optical zoom . Taking another look at the competition, Huawei’s P40 Pro + is equipped with a periscope with up to 10x optical zoom.
