DigiTimes says, through a new report, that the iPhone 12 models will be equipped with Qualcomm’s 5G X60 modem.

pple is expected to release its first iPhone 5G later this year and several sources have indicated that these models will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 modem .

Now however, DigiTimes says that TSMC will start producing the A14 chips and the Snapdragon X60 modem this month, and that they will be used on the iPhone 12 line.

Made with a 5 nm process , the X60 offers greater energy efficiency in a smaller footprint than the X55. Smartphones equipped with the X60 will also be able to simultaneously aggregate data from the mmWave and sub-6GHz bands to achieve an optimal combination of high speed and low latency network coverage.

When the X60 was introduced in February, it looked intended for the 2021 iPhones instead of the 2020 iPhones, as Apple needs enough time for testing and production . Qualcomm himself said that XG-equipped 5G smartphones are expected to start launching in early 2021, so this rumor should be treated with pliers.

Apple typically announces new iPhones in September, but due to the global health crisis, there is a possibility of a slight delay in launch plans .
