Apple has often generated the majority of smartphone sector profit thanks to its iPhone. In the last quarter of 2017, however, sales did not go as planned and the percentage this year has dropped dramatically.
In 2015, Apple had registered 92% of the earnings from the smartphone market, selling only 20% of the total devices. Thanks to the high prices of Apple products, this has been a fairly regular trend, with a linear growth year after year. In the last quarter of 2017, the trend has changed dramatically. The gain made in this quarter was only 35% of the entire smartphone sector. The data was shared directly by CNBC in a recent report.
The iPhone X alone generated 21% of total revenue and 35% of total smartphone sector profits during the quarter.
Compared to the Android competition, the result achieved is still amazing. In fact, the iPhone X has generated a profit five times greater than 600 Android brands put together.
Apple at the same time also sells the older iPhones in order to cover different price ranges for all kinds of needs. In this way, it continues to sell more, but the revenue on the single device is reduced.
