The next version of Apple’s iPhone SE will be powered by a next-generation A15 system-on-chip and will retain the same design as its predecessor.

According to Nikkei Asia , the iPhone SE 3 could arrive in the first half of 2022 with a design unchanged from the current model.

Although it will keep an outdated design, the next version of the iPhone SE will be powered by the A15 Bionic chip , the same one we will find in the iPhone 13, and will support 5G thanks to the implementation of Qualcomm’s X60 modem chip.

The affordable 5G iPhone is expected to hit the market as early as the first half of 2022, according to sources informed on the matter. It will be powered by Apple’s A15 processor, the same chip that will power this year’s premium iPhones, and its 5G connectivity will be enabled by Qualcomm’s X60 modem chip.

The report also confirms other recent claims that the iPhone 2022 line will not include a 5.4-inch “mini” model, as sales of the iPhone 12 mini have been disappointing. Due to this, Apple will introduce a new low-end 6.7-inch iPhone model in 2022 . The iPhone 2022 lineup, therefore, could be made up of two iPhone 14 models of 6.1 and 6.7 inches and two Pros of the same size.
