Here’s how Consumer Reports checks your smartphone’s battery life:
To find out how long a phone battery can last, Consumer Reports uses a robotic finger programmed to subject the phone to a series of tasks designed to simulate an average consumer day. The robot surfs the Internet, takes photos, uses GPS navigation and, of course, makes phone calls.
And the quality of the camera? Consumer Reports does not go into detail here, but states that the devices have achieved ” some of the highest scores ” in these categories. For the quality of the rear image, all three iPhone 11 models have achieved ” very good ” ratings , which makes them in line with the competition.
Our testers say that 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max have achieved some of the highest scores in our ratings for still image quality. The iPhone 11 also scored very well in this category. And all three phones received an excellent rating for video quality.
Apple also claims that the iPhone 11 series offers greater durability. All three phones survived a water resistance test, but the iPhone 11 Pro failed to pass an endurance test:
The tumbler is a rotating chamber that repeatedly drops a phone from a height of about 1 meter. The phone is checked after 50 drops and then again after 100. The goal is to expose it to impacts from a wide variety of angles.
In the case of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro Max, the phones we tested exceeded all 100 falls with only minor scratches. But when we checked the iPhone 11 Pro after 50 crashes, we found out that its display was broken and didn’t work. A second sample was also broken.
Eventually, Consumer Reports rated the iPhone 11 Pro Max with an overall score of 95 , followed by the iPhone 11 Pro with 92 . The iPhone 11 achieved an overall score of 89, ranking eighth overall.
