On some iPhone 11, 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max the maximum battery capacity you see through the settings may be incorrect. Apple has created a tool to recalibrate this data and will introduce it with iOS 14.5
As you know, all lithium batteries are subject to wear and, over time, recharge after recharge, they become less and less performing as the maximum energy capacity tends to drop and no longer reaches 100%.
Within the Settings> Battery application, Apple provides a very useful tool that allows us to immediately understand what state our battery is in. On a newly purchased iPhone we will see 100%, after which the percentage will drop over time.
On the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max there is a bug that shows inaccurate estimates and as a consequence this leads to unexpected battery discharge or a reduction in maximum performance.
Apple is keen to point out that this is only an inaccurate detection of the battery status and that the too low number you see in the settings does not reflect any problems with the actual battery status.
However, to avoid problems of any kind, with iOS 14.5 a new tool is introduced in the section “Settings> Battery> Battery status” . This is a recalibration tool that takes a few weeks to perform its function.
At the end of the process, the iPhone will be able to show you the right battery capacity so potentially the percentage you see now will tend to rise.
We repeat that the bug only affects the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max and therefore the tool will only be shown on these smartphones. More information can be found on the Apple support page already translated into Italian.
Note that Apple will replace a battery from an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max at no cost to the user in case the calibration fails for some reason .
