Are we getting closer to the launch of AirTags?

Yesterday, Apple released the third beta version of iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 to developers. In the new beta, the company has activated the new “Elements” tab in the Where’s App, which will allow users to keep track of long-awaited AirTags and third-party accessories.

In preparation for the launch of this feature, Apple has made the new “Items” tab visible in the Find My app by default . Previously, this tab was only accessible by activating a developer setting or entering the URL “ findmy: // items ” in Safari on iPhone or iPad, but it now appears automatically to all users running the latest beta.

This suggests that Apple is close to launching its “Find My” network which will allow users to track their items using smart tags, such as AirTags .

When opening Find My iPhone for the first time in iOS 14.5, users will see a new welcome screen showing what’s new in the app. This includes support for tracking accessories, improved notifications, and the Find My network. By tapping the Items tab, users can add a new accessory to the app or identify another user’s found item.
