With iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max we can measure a person’s height using the LiDAR Scanner, here’s how.

The iPhone 12 Pro models are equipped with a new LiDAR scanner for enhanced augmented reality experiences, but the sensor also enables another unique feature: the ability to immediately measure a person’s height using the Metro app.

According to Apple, we can even measure the height of a person sitting in a chair, according to Apple. When the Metro app detects a person in the viewfinder, it automatically measures their height from the ground to the top of their head, hat, or hair.

How to measure a person’s height with iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max:

  • Let’s open the Metro app on our ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ or ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ Max.
  • We position the iPhone so that the person whose height we want to measure is fully visible on the screen.
  • After a moment, a line with the height measurement appears on the person’s head (hair or hat).
  • We can also take a photo of the measurement by tapping the “Take a photo” button.
  • To save the photo, touch the snapshot in the lower-left corner, select Done, then choose between “Save to Photo” or “Save to File”.

This feature is limited to devices with a LiDAR scanner , including the iPad Pro 2020 and iPhone 12 Pro Max models.
