Today, through a press release , Apple has announced that HomePod can be ordered from this Friday (January 26) at the price of $ 349, and that will be available from February 9th. The first smart speaker of the Cupertino company will be available in two colors: white or space gray.

HomePod was unveiled last June during the keynote of the WWDC Apple, with December indicated as a period of availability. The Cupertino company, as you probably know, has then postponed the date to “Start 2018”. After so much information recently leaked, the official date has finally been revealed.

With HomePod Apple officially becomes involved in the smart speaker market, proposing its answer to products such as Amazon Echo and Google Home. However, unlike these devices, HomePod is intended more as a premium product (also consider the price …), which focuses a lot on the quality of the audio. Siri is certainly an important component of the device, but to date, it has not been revealed all its potential. During the presentation at WWDC, Phil Schiller announced that at launch, the virtual assistant version for HomePod will only support a limited number of commands.

AVAILABILITY

As stated at the beginning of Apple’s press release, HomePod will be available in stores starting from 9 February but may be pre-ordered by this Friday (January 26). The smart speaker will initially be available in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Australia. In the spring it is expected to arrive in France and Germany. Unfortunately, no information on the African market.
