According to Chinese media reports, Foxconn, Apple’s largest manufacturing partner, has started hiring seasonal employees to produce the iPhone 12.
Foxconn , Apple’s largest manufacturing partner, has begun its seasonal hiring run to assist with the production of the iPhone 12 , offering employees who recruit qualified candidates up to 9,000 yuan (€ 1098) bonuses.
As usual, Foxconn needs as many employees as possible at its factory in Zhengzhou, China to start mass production of the next iPhone models. Apple is expected to announce four iPhone 12 models this year, including a 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch models and a 6.7-inch model, all with OLED displays and 5G connectivity.
Although new iPhones usually begin shipping in late September, Apple recently indicated that the supply will be available “a few weeks after the usual time ” this year.
“As you know, last year we started selling the new iPhone 11 models at the end of September. This year we expect the offering to be available a few weeks later, ”Apple CFO Luca Maestri said on the company’s earnings call on July 31.
The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro were released on September 20 last year. A three week delay would mean the iPhone 12 lineup could be released in mid-October.
It’s not uncommon for Apple to postpone the release of new iPhones to October or even November. Notably, 2019 marked the first time in three years that the company launched its entire range of iPhones simultaneously. In 2017 for example, the iPhone X was announced in September but was only released in November.
Apple’s confirmation that the new models will arrive later than usual is an unprecedented announcement from the company.
