Some time last week a good friend of mine asked me an interesting question. “Apple wants me to say goodbye to OSX Lion… good idea or not? Many often we always think every new thing is a good thing, sorry people it doesn’t work that way. Many years ago I wouldn’t update my softwares until after six months after the release and my reason was simple. Most software products go through many bug fixes after their release and being the cautious guy I was then I always wanted to be very sure that the bugs were fixed before i venture into it. It worked for me then, but I’ve moved on. I’m more adventurous now.
I personally love the name Mavericks and I think Apple developers did a wonderful job naming their latest OX Mavericks and this is why?
The dictionary define Maverick as a lone dissenter, as an intellectual, an artist, or a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates.
The Merriam- Webster define it as a person who refuses to follow the customs or rules of a group.
My favourite definition is from the urban dictionary, Someone who refuses to play by the rules. He/she isn’t scared to cross the line of conformity, but their unorthodox tactics get results. I believe this definitions should even convince you that the OS is good. Hahahaha…..
The OS X Mavericks brings new apps to your Macbook desktop and adds features you’ll love to use and enjoy. The interesting fact is that it gives you technologies that help your Mac perform better by using less power.
Some of these features include, iBooks, Maps, Calendar, Safari, IcloudKeychain, Multiple Displays, Notifications, Finder Tabs, Tags and Advanced Technologies.
Now you can launch the iBooks app on your Mac and the books you’ve already downloaded on your ipad, iphone or ipod touch will automatically appear in your library.
At your fingertips, you can look up directions on your Mac and send them right to your iphone for voice navigation on the way.
The calendar now has a fresh new look and powerful features that make managing your time easier. A new event inspector makes it simplier to create and edit events by suggesting addresses and points of interest when you start typing in the location.
With Safari in OS X Mavericks you can now share links in the new sidebar which shows links posted by people you follow on Twitter and Linkedin, so you can keep up with the latest and quickly retweet what you like. In addition, new power-saving technologies in OS X Mavericks mean you won’t waste battery power on web pages you’re not currently viewing or plug-in content you don’t want to see.
Remembering your passwords can be a real pain in the butt, thanks to OS X Mavericks you can now use iCloud Keychain, it remembers them all. It stores your website user names and passwords on the Mac and iOS device you’ve approved, protect them with robust 256-bit AES encryption, and keeps them up to date on each device and automatically fills them in whenever you need them.
With Notification in Mavericks, you can interact with your notifications, so you can quickly reply to a messsage or reply to or delete an email. If you receive a FaceTime video call you don’t have time to answer, simple reply with a message or set a callback reminder.
Finders Tabs help you decluter your desktop by consolidating multiple Finder windows into one. For example, you could keep a tab for All My Files, one for Homework, and one AirDrop, all in a single Finder window.
Tags are powerful new ways to organized and find your files, even documents stored in iCloud. Simple tag the files you want to organize together with a keyword, like “Important.” Then when you want to find those files, just click Important in the Finder sidebar or enter it in the search field. And all the files with the tag will appear together in one Finder window, even if they’re stored in different locations.
With OS X Mavericks, your Mac is now even smarter. Energy-saving technologies help you get more out of your batter. And performance-boosting technology brings you more speed and responsiveness. It’s power wielded wisely.
And to Ralph Twum whose question inspired me to write this post. I say to you “No one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new beginning.”
