iOS 12.4.2 is available for all devices that do not support iOS 13

Although iOS 13 has been available for a week, Apple has released iOS 12.4.2 designed for those who still run iOS 12 versions on devices that can’t be upgraded to iOS 13.

iOS 12.4.2 is available for the original iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and sixth-generation iPod touch, all not compatible with iOS 13.

The iOS 12.4.2 update can be downloaded to suitable devices via OTA by going to Settings> General> Software Update.

It is not clear what is included in iOS 12.4.2, but it is probably a security update that adds important security fixes to older devices that have not been able to get those updates via the latest software. Apple’s release notes state that the update ” includes improvements, provides important security updates and is recommended for all users “.

A security support document provided with the update indicates that it corrects a vulnerability that could allow a remote attacker to prevent unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.
