Apple could buy the well-known podcast network Wondery.

According to Bloomberg , Apple has held talks with the Wondery podcast network about a potential acquisition. Wondery airs some of the most popular podcasts including “Dirty John” and “Dr. Death “.

Wondery has a valuation of between $ 300 and $ 400 million and is reportedly looking for a possible buyer. The podcast network has a monthly audience of over eight million users , a very important figure for Apple as it aims to acquire original podcasts to better compete with Spotify.

The purchase would provide Apple with a library of original content along with a source of ideas that could eventually be turned into television content for Apple TV +.

Spotify, Apple’s competitor, has focused heavily on podcasts and bought Gimlet Media , known for podcasts like “Reply All” and “Homecoming”. Apple has long been a leader in the field of podcasting thanks to the Podcast app, which has been improving in recent years, but Spotify is quickly gaining ground.

In the past, the iPhone maker has already bought a couple of podcasting companies. In 2017, he bought Pop Up Archive to enhance search and, in early 2020, he bought the Scout FMpodcast service , designed to turn podcast shows into radio-style stations.
