Weekly TIME has shared the list of the top 10 gadgets in 2017 and two Apple products are on the list. The new iPhone X missed the first spot, while Apple Watch Series 3 got “only” 9th place, and is the only wearable in the standings this year.
Last week, TIME named iPhone X as one of the 25 most important inventions of 2017 and devoted ample space to the novelty of the device by interviewing Jony Ive and Dan Riccio. Now, iPhone X has gained second place in the Top 10 of the 2017 gadgets, only by the popular Nintendo Switch. Taking a look at the competition, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has reached fifth place.

Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, you probably had trouble having one in your hands. And yes, Android did it first. But the edge-to-edge display and Face Detection System of iPhone X will set a new standard for smartphones of the future. The first, Apple’s Face ID system, despite security concerns, has already been used in more creative ways than Samsung’s facelift technology. Third-party applications such as Snapchat and Warby Parker benefit from iPhone X face mapping technology to create realistic masks on your eyes or select appropriate glasses on the curves of your face. This, combined with a great camera, a battery of great autonomy, and a large display implemented in an even more appealing size,

Apple Watch Series 3 is recording good sales and reviews are positive. Although the device is not radically different from the Series 2, the new generation brings with it important updates like the new processor, cellular connectivity, and more. That’s why TIME believes that the new Apple home smartwatch deserves the ninth position:

Apple’s latest smartwatch finally lets you leave the smartphone at home. Considering that it supports LTE, you can receive calls and text messages on your wrist even when your phone is not nearby. The third generation of Apple Watch also uses a faster processor and new sensors to trace physical activity more accurately. Apple Watch is not meant to replace your smartphone, and everything you use on your phone is better on a larger display. But the freedom to be able to leave the phone home when driving a dog or going out for a ride might be enough to convince the skeptics that Apple Watch deserves consideration.

The other gadgets in the list are the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3rd, DJI Spark 4th Drone, Second Generation Amazon Echo, Xbox One X, Sony Alpha AR7R III, and more.
