According to a new report on the supply chain broadcast by the Taiwanese media, Apple should release a new 16-inch MacBook Pro along with the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro updated in October.

The price of the 16-inch MacBook Pro should start at around $ 3,000 and be positioned between the iMac and the all-in-one iMac Pro as an option for customers with professional needs.

The Taiwan Economic Daily News, citing sources in the Asian supply chain, added that the new 16-inch MacBook will use LCD technology instead of adopting LG-made OLED panels that make vivid colours and real blacks offer high contrast. The product will be assembled by the Foxconn and Quanta producers, with the first shipments scheduled for October.

The supply chain sources also mention that the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro and updated MacBook Air will arrive in October, but without disclosing any significant details.

Previous reports have stated that the resolution of the 16-inch MacBook Pro will be 3072 × 1920 pixels, which is higher than the current display specifications of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with 2880 × 1800 pixels. The new notebook is expected to be as thin as the current models.

Due to its altered form factor, new hardware and a brand new screen, the new 16-inch MacBook should cost more than the flagship MacBook Pro with its 15.3-inch Retina display. The report does not mention an updated 15-inch MacBook Pro, so it is also possible that the 16-inch can completely replace the current 15-inch MacBook Pro.
