The iPhone 9 will have the same price as the iPhone SE

According to rumors, Apple is accelerating the production of a new low-cost iPhone model ahead of a launch in March, with the “iPhone SE 2” or “iPhone 9” having the same price as the original iPhone SE.

We may be about a month away from the official announcement of the iPhone 9 . As we approach the presentation, many rumors  about the device’s prices and how it will adapt to Apple’s line-up continue to circulate. This week, a new Fast Company report confirms that the starting price of the iPhone 9 will be $ 399 ( € 509 in Italy ).

At $ 399, the new low-cost ” iPhone ” will have the same starting price as the iPhone® SE 2016, which is why some people have called it ” iPhone SE 2. ” Others called it ” iPhone 9 “, but we still don’t know how will call Apple.

We know quite a bit of its specifications though, thanks to numerous leaks. The next low-cost ‌iPhone will have a design similar to the iPhone 8 ‌, with thicker top and bottom bezels and a Home Touch ID button.

It will be equipped with the same A13 chip available on iPhone 11 and 11 Pro and will be equipped with 3 GB of RAM . To keep costs down, it will use a single- lens rear camera , although it is not known whether the camera will be the same as the wide-angle camera in the iPhone 11. It could be available in 64 and 128 GB storage options and there are different colors including Space Gray, Silver and Red.

Production of the new low-cost ‌iPhone was expected to begin in February, but the factories of Apple suppliers are currently closed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in China. It is unclear whether this will affect production plans and whether the iPhone 9 launch date will be delayed.

Earlier rumors had suggested that the company would launch the new budget iPhone in the first half of 2020, perhaps in March. Apple often holds its first event of the year in March and, if it does the same this year, it will be announced shortly.

What is Apple’s logic behind the iPhone 9? With its new focus on services, like Apple Arcade and Apple TV + , the company has a huge incentive to keep as many iPhone users on the latest version of iOS. An iPhone 9 priced at $ 399 could be a great incentive for those who still use devices such as iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to upgrade to a device capable of running iOS 13.
