Improving the availability of major Apple products means that supply partners in China have largely returned to regular production after COVID-19 has forced suppliers to close their factories.
According to Gene Munster of Loup Ventures , delivery times for four key Apple products – 64 GB iPhone 11, 64 GB iPhone 11 Pro, AirPods Pro and second generation AirPods – have improved significantly in the past two weeks.
According to the company, which has been monitoring availability since mid-February, the shipping times of the two iPhone models have dropped from 7 days on March 4 to just 2 days. Even for AirPods , shipping times have dropped from 10 to 7 days.
Although Munster is unable to definitively link the improvements to the increase in supply, he believes that the shorter delivery times are largely attributed to a restart of Chinese production .
Apple is still facing problems due to COVID-19 and has closed all stores outside of Greater China this week in an attempt to minimize the spread of the virus. The company was also forced to reformat its annual global developer conference in light of the pandemic, and last week announced that the event will be held completely online.
