According to a recent report released by DigiTimes, the successor of the iPhone X planned for 2018 will be sold at a reduced price compared to the current model. The reason for this price drop would be the reduced costs of the materials used to make it.

There are already many rumors that confirm the arrival of three new iPhone for this 2018. This time, however, we will no longer see a revised version of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but two completely new models, along with the review of the current iPhone X. In particular, we can expect a 6.1 “model with LCD display, a revised iPhone X with a 5.8” OLED display and a 6.5 “iPhone X Plus.

According to the report mentioned above, the total cost of materials used to build the iPhone X in 2018 would have decreased by 10 %. Producing an iPhone X currently at Apple costs around $ 400. According to DigiTimes, this cost would then be lowered and consequently, there may be price drops for the end user as well. This data does not surprise us too much because the components used will certainly be very similar to those used in 2017.

DigiTimes, therefore, provides a reduced price for the 5.8 “model with the OLED display, which will probably be the cheapest iPhone released in 2018 (perhaps second only to a hypothetical iPhone SE 2). This could help the sales of Apple, which like other manufacturers, is suffering with high-end smartphones .
