Spotify’s next update will introduce widgets to iOS 14.
One of the features of iOS 14 that has found the most success are widgets .
Previously, the use of widgets was limited to the Today tab, which can be accessed by swiping from left to right on the home screen. In iOS 14, however, widgets got a redesign of design and functionality.
In the latest beta version of Spotify available on TestFlight, the company is testing its own widget, which will soon be available for all iOS users. Currently, the widget is available in two sizes: small and medium.
The small version will show the artwork of the last played artist, song or album, while the second will show 4 elements.
Unfortunately, there are no play, pause, or next song buttons, as Apple only allows widgets to present read-only information. Due to this limitation, introduced by Apple to preserve the battery life of the devices, clicking on the widgets will open the app.
