From 16pm, Samsung punctually opened the event to present the new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 +.

After months of rumors and speculation is finally time to discover the new flagship device of the Korean multinational.

From the aesthetic point of view, the new Galaxy and Galaxy S8 S8 + recall the already sight line with the previous generation devices, with a display with minimized and curved display on the long sides frames.

On the rear of the sensor is positioned for the detection of fingerprints, not aligned to the center where instead is positioned from 12 MPX camera with autofocus and dual Pixel laser, accompanied by dual LED flash.

On the other hand, the camera is 8 MPX f / 1.7 with wide angle with autofocus sensor for iris recognition, which is part of the 5 unlock methods for the safety of the device.

In addition to classic unlock methods such as passwords, path and fingerprint, Samsung has also deployed iris scans and facial recognition to access the device.

On the sides, it is positioned to the right of the power key with the compartment for the SIM and the microSD while the left rocker arm for adjusting the volume.

The Galaxy S8 mounts display SuperAMOLED Infinity 5.8 “ with a diagonal of 18: 9 and resolution QuadHD + (2960 × 1440) with  571ppi density . The battery is 3000mAh which supports the rapid and wireless charging. The device measures 148.9 × 68.1 × 8 mm and weighs 152 grams .

The major version, the Galaxy S8 + instead has a wider display from 6.2 “ and 529ppi density with dimensions 159.5 × 73.4 × 8.1 mm to 173 grams , but the battery increases to 3500mAh always with quick charge and wireless.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + mount the processor Exynos 8895 octa-core 10nm developing 2.3 GHz of processing power for the most powerful four-core and 1.7GHz for the other four.

The RAM is 4GB while the capacity of the two devices starts from 64 GB and is expandable with microSD up to 256 GB .

In terms of connectivity, the S8 and S8 + are compatible with Bluetooth 5.0, which allows connection to two headsets simultaneously, LTE, Wi-Fi ac (2.4 and 5 GHz), Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, NFC.

On the bottom is the USB-C presents entrance, flanked by a speaker and microphone on the upper side while the 3.5 mm jack and the microphone with elimination of environmental noise.

The two devices have IP68 certification, therefore resistant to dust and sealed to be water resistant in continuous immersion up to 3 meters.

The operating system is a customized version of Android 7.0 with Bixby , the new voice assistant announced a few days ago  the functions of which have been presented in the event today.

Availability and prices

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + will be available in Italy in three colors , midnight black, gray and orchid Artic silver respectively and will cost 829 euro and 929 euro.

The availability is scheduled for April 21 but only for users who pre-order now, otherwise it will be available from April 28.

The package includes charger, charging cable, cable OTG microUSB and AKG earphones, the result of a collaboration with Samsung.
