The South Korean company presents the new Galaxy S20 with 5G connectivity, new cameras, price range from $ 1,000 to $ 1,400 and more.
At its Unpacked event in San Francisco, Samsung presented its Galaxy S20 5G range , consisting of the Galaxy S20 , S20 + and S20 Ultra smartphones with 5G connectivity, new camera technology and more.
The Galaxy S20 and S20 + come with a 6.2-inch AMOLED display , while the Galaxy S20 Ultra features a 6.9-inch AMOLED display . All three are edge-to-edgne displays with small camera cutouts and ultrasonic fingerprint sensors , facial recognition capability, HDR10 + certification and 120Hz refresh rates.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra work with sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G networks , while the Galaxy S20 is limited to 5G sub-6GHz connectivity . mmWave is the fastest 5G, but will be limited to major urban areas, while the slower sub-6GHz network will be more prevalent.
The Galaxy S20 features a triple lens camera with a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens , a 12 megapixel wide angle lens and a 64 megapixel telephoto lens.
The Galaxy S20 + features the same cameras, along with a fourth ” Depth Vision ” camera , while the Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle camera , a 108 megapixel wide angle camera and a 48 megapixel telephoto lens , together with the Depth Vision Room.
Samsung says that all the cameras of the new smartphones are able to bring in more light for better images in low light conditions and the S20 Ultra can dynamically move between a 108 megapixel mode and a 12 megapixel mode.
All three smartphones are equipped with ” Space Zoom” which allows users to zoom up to 30x on Galaxy S20 and S20 +, while S20 Ultra has 10x lossless zoom for a total of 100x zoom .
The ” Single Shot ” feature allows Galaxy S20 smartphones to take a series of photos and videos simultaneously, such as live focus, cropping, ultra wide and more, and then use the AI to recommend the best shot of the group.
The new smartphones support 8K video shooting with ” Super Steady ” and anti-rolling stabilization functions. There are also 10 megapixel front camera configurations on each of the new smartphones.
All new smartphones are powered by a 64-bit 7-nanometer Octa-Core processor . S20 and S20 + offer 12 GB of RAM , while S20 Ultra offers 12 or 16 GB depending on the model purchased. Storage space starts at 128 GB, but a 512 GB option is available for high-end devices.
The S20 has a 4,000 mAh battery , the S20 + has a 4,500 mAh battery and the S20 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery . Fast wireless charging is supported and smartphones come with a 25W charger .
Samsung offers smartphones in multiple colors. S20 is available in the colors Cosmic Gray, Cloud Blue and Cloud Pink, while S20 + is available in the colors Cosmic Gray, Cloud Blue and Cosmic Black. S20 Ultra is available in Cosmic Gray and Cosmic Black.
The new Samsung smartphones will be available for purchase on March 6 , with pre-orders starting on February 21. Pricing starts at $ 999.99 for the Galaxy S20 5G, $ 1,199.99 for the Galaxy S20 + 5G, and $ 1,399.99 for the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.
Samsung has also announced an updated version of its AirPods competitors, the Galaxy Buds + . They have an improved battery life of 11 hours, with the charging case offering another 11 hours.
Like AirPods, the Galaxy Buds Plus case can be charged wirelessly. To improve phone calls, they have 3 microphones. On stage, Samsung stressed that “they work perfectly with iOS “. They are available in pre-order for $ 149.
