Apple may finally update the design of the iPhone SE.
This year, Apple launched a new generation of the iPhone SE , its most affordable phone.
Although the iPhone SE 2022 has retained the same design as the previous generation, which is based on the iPhone 8, it looks like things will be quite different with the next model. According to YouTuber Jon Prosser, in fact , the next iPhone SE will have the same design as the iPhone XR .
Specifically, Prosser reported that the next-generation entry-level iPhone will be similar to the iPhone XR. This means that we will say goodbye to the old iPhone 8 form factor with top and bottom bezels and Home button in favor of a more modern design with reduced bezels, notch and Face ID.
The current iPhone SE has a 4.7-inch LCD display, while the (now discontinued) iPhone XR has a larger 6.1-inch LCD display . iPhone XR also has other advantages over the entry-level iPhone 2022, such as a significantly larger battery .
Other details on the new iPhone SE remain unclear at the moment. In the past, Apple has added its latest chip to the entry-level iPhone – the current model uses the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13. However, rumors indicate that the standard iPhone 14 models will still be powered by the A15 chip and , if that turns out to be accurate, the next iPhone SE model could continue to use the same chip as well.
As for the cameras, both the iPhone SE 2022 and the iPhone XR have very similar sensors with a 12 megapixel rear camera with f / 1.8 aperture and a 7 megapixel front camera with f / 2.2 aperture . Of course, Apple could improve the camera sensors for the next low-cost iPhone, or at least add new software features like night mode (currently not available on the entry-level iPhone).
iPhone SE gets bigger
Smaller phone users may not be happy that the iPhone SE is getting bigger. When the first entry-level iPhone was announced in 2016, Apple said it was made for people who like small phones. After all, the first model of 2016 was based on the iPhone 5s, while the current model is much smaller than the other iPhones, with the exception of the iPhone mini.
However, demand for the iPhone SE 2022 has been quite low, suggesting that users are no longer interested in buying an iPhone with a design from nearly a decade ago. A new iPhone SE with a new iPhone XR-like design priced around $ 400 could turn the device into a hit.
