The co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, died today, at the age of 65 because of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a tumor that originates in the lymphatic system.
The announcement came tonight from the company and all the biggest men in the world, including Satya Nadella (current CEO of Microsoft) and Tim Cook, have spent some words about it.
Tim Cook tweeted: “the technology industry has lost a pioneer, while the world has lost a positive force”.
Nadella instead wrote:
Paul Allen’s contributions to our company, our industry and our community are indispensable. As a co-founder of Microsoft, in his silent and persistent way, he created magical products, experiences and institutions and by doing this, he changed the world. I learned a lot from him: his curiosity and the desire to go towards higher standards is something that will continue to inspire me and all of us at Microsoft. Our hearts are with Paul’s family and his loved ones. Rest in peace.
According to his website, Allen’s philanthropic contributions exceed $ 2 billion, which has been spent on environmental causes, homelessness, machine learning, and more.
