Apple plans to launch a new entry-level MacBook 13 “ in the second half of 2018, according to sources close to the company. The rumor resumed a report by DigiTimes according to which the General Interface Solution (GIS) would get the job from Apple to produce more LCDs for the mentioned model, after providing the modules for the MacBooks currently on the market in Q4 last year.

General Interface Solution (GIS), a touch panel manufacturer, is expected to get more orders from LCM’s Apple (LCD modules), as the company plans to launch a 13-inch entry-level MacBook in the second half of 2018, according to a source close to the company. With new orders for MacBooks and other models, GIS should increase LCM shipments to 600,000 units per month by the end of 2018, compared to 300,000 units today, the source said, “the report reads.

The new MacBook from Apple should replace the 13-inch MacBook Air, the notebook of the Cupertino company currently “cheaper”. Apple launched the 13 “Air line in 2010 and has never replaced it since sales have always been positive. In 2016, the tech colossus tried to place the 13 “MacBook Pro without a Touch Bar as a viable alternative to the MacBook Air, but the former has a much higher starting price (around $ 300 more).

There are doubts about the design of the new 13” MacBook, considering that Apple will try to make it easily distinguishable from the other existing 13″ MacBook Pro.
