More and more news about iPhone 8 and wireless charging support. However, it would seem that the device will not support the Qi standard faster.

A recent MacOtakara report explores one of the possible novelties of iPhone 8 (but also 7s and 7s Plus, ndr), namely wireless recharge . According to the site, citing sources close to the Wireless Power Consortium , the new Apple home smartphones  will not support the fast Qi 1.2 to 15W wireless charging standard.

For obvious reasons, is almost entirely addressed to iPhone 8, but apparently the next top Apple range will not be at the smartphone level of the competition, at least as far as wireless charging is concerned. According to the source, in fact, the device will support the Qi 1.1 standard, which does not exceed 7.5W of power.

In addition (a decision that probably will not surprise you), Apple might decide to only make compatible wireless chargers with the well-known MFi (Made For iPhone) certification. In practice, any Qi accessories you already have, without the above-mentioned certification, would not be compatible with iPhone 8.

We just have to wait for official information, which should arrive on September 12th . Today, in fact, WSJ has also indicated this as almost a certain date of the expected next month’s event, which will feature all the new Apple devices.
