According to a new report, Apple will release a new model of the iPad Pro mini-LED in the first half of 2021, followed by an iPad Pro model with an OLED display in the second half of the year.
Korean website The Elec confirms that Apple plans to release at least one iPad Pro model with a mini-LED display in the first half of 2021, but also shares exciting new details on the company’s plans.
According to the report, Apple has big plans for its tablet. The launch of the first iPad Pro mini-LED, in fact, will be followed by the launch of another iPad Pro in the second half of 2021, but the latter model will be equipped with an OLED display . Furthermore, it is rumored that LG and Samsung are already developing OLED displays for future iPad models.
Several rumors have claimed that the mini-LED display could be exclusive to the new high-end 12.9-inch iPad Pro that launches around March, so it’s possible the rest of the iPad Pro lineup will continue to use mainstream ones. LCD displays until the company roll out the new OLED displays.
The mini-LED display can provide deeper blacks , brighter colors and richer and m ETTER contrast because there is more control over what is displayed on the screen with so many LEDs.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple’s transition to mini-LED will allow it to design thinner and lighter products that offer many of the same benefits as OLED. The mini-LEDs are close to deep blacks and the best HDR OLED provides, but with no burn-in or degradation issues.
Apple last updated the iPad Pro in March, but it was a relatively minor update, with new features including an A12Z Bionic chip which is essentially an A12X chip with an additional GPU core enabled an Ultra-Wide Zoom camera. 0.5x, a LiDAR scanner for enhanced augmented reality and better-sounding microphones. It was the first update to the iPad Pro since the device received a major redesign in October 2018.
