These Mac models will be powered by the brand new M2 Pro, M2 Max, M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips.

In the latest edition of the Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman talks about the new M2 Macs that Apple will launch over the next few months.

The reporter claims that the company will release the following variants of the M2 chip: Pro, Ultra, Max and Extreme. These processors will power the following new Mac models:

  • Mac mini M2;
  • Mac mini M2 Pro;
  • MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max 14-inch and 16-inch;
  • Mac Pro M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme.

The next model of the Mac mini will replace the current model powered by the Intel processor.

As for the next generation of MacBook Pro, it makes sense that Apple will update the machines with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, as they have recently released a new entry-level MacBook Pro with M2 chips. Consequently, it will have to update the two 14-inch and 16-inch models with the two chips mentioned above.

On top of that, Gurman also revealed that Apple would release a new Mac Pro model powered by the M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips.

Finally, the reporter did not mention the iMac in the newsletter. This is because he has revealed in the past that the company is already working on an iMac M3, which is likely to be released in the first half of 2023.
