Google Maps is officially back on Apple Watch, with the latest update reintroducing watchOS support.

Last month, the US company  announced  that  Google Maps would be back on watchOS, and now, after the latest update, the Apple Watch app is back.

On the Apple Watch, Google Maps focuses on providing detailed driving directions as well as estimated arrival times. The main screen of the app shows our “Current Trip”, while below we came back a list of “Trip times”.

In addition, favorite destinations saved on the app are also available, such as home, work and any other saved shortcuts / destinations.

It is not possible to directly enter a new location from the wearable device, with Google directing users to the phone app. The watchOS client supports navigation by car, bicycle, public transport, or on foot, and users can “set travel mode” right from their wrist

Once selected, directions are displayed in tabs with large icons for turning and identifying the current mode of transportation, but live maps are not available.

The app uses haptic feedback to provide guidance as you navigate, while a standard system-wide link is present on the watch face to quickly return to the scrollable list view. There is also a complication of Google Maps, with the app icon, which opens the app directly.
