According to a new report, Intel may rely on TMSC to manufacture future chips.

While Apple has begun its two-year journey to move the full range of Macs from Intel processors to new M1 chips , a new report suggests that some future Intel CPUs could be made by TSMC .

CNET reports that the reason for Intel’s potential interest is TSMC’s technological advantage, namely the manufacturing of 5-nanometer chips. The US multinational company, which manufactures its own chips, has encountered some difficulties over the last few years and has only recently switched from a 14nm to a 10nm manufacturing process. Even the Rocket Chip Lake of desktop computers next year will still be built with the process of 14 nm.

Intel reportedly wants to work with other manufacturers such as TSMC to build its chips, so they can fill in their gaps and learn new manufacturing techniques.

Furthermore, the loss of Apple as a customer isn’t the only problem for the company, as AMD has also improved the production of its high-end desktop chips in recent years.
