Apple hired a former Warner Music executive to lead part of its Apple Music team . As reported for the first time by Reuters , Jeff Bronikowski joins Apple as global manager of the company’s strategic musical initiatives.

Bronikowski has announced his new role on Apple on LinkedIn and said he is looking forward to working with the fantastic Apple Music team. Prior to joining Apple, Bronikowski served as the Senior Vice President of Global Business Development of the Warner Music Group and Head of New Technology and Innovation.

In Warner Music Group, Bronikowski was responsible for strategic partnerships, revenue growth, investments in new technologies and more. Bronikowski will be based in New York City, but says he will spend a lot of time with the Apple teams in Culver City and Cupertino.

Apple Music faces the growing competition from Spotify, which continues to expand its focus on the original content and podcast. Apple Music currently has over 60 million paying users, compared to around 125 million Spotify subscribers.
