According to Gurman, Apple could introduce several improvements on Fitness + and new subscription services by the end of the year.

Apple plans to introduce several improvements to Fitness + and Apple Pay this year and is exploring the idea of a brand new dedicated nutrition service that integrates with the Health app.

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman outlined his expectations for this year’s new Apple services. According to the reporter, two Apple finance-related services are under development, including a hardware subscription program and a “Buy Now, Pay Later” service for Apple Pay transactions, designed to allow customers to pay for purchases. in instalments, rivalling existing services.

Last month, Gurman explained that the hardware subscription program would allow customers to pay a monthly fee and receive an iPhone, iPad or Mac for the duration of the subscription. The company is rumoured to aim to make the process of buying an ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌ on par with buying iCloud storage or paying for an Apple Music subscription, with customers able to subscribe with their Apple ID. and App Store accounts.

Gurman says the service will be Apple’s biggest push to recurring sales. However, the company is currently focusing on Apple Pay’s “Buy Now, Pay Later” service. The analyst says the Cupertino giant is working to roll out hardware subscriptions by the end of 2022, but the service could be postponed to 2023 or cancelled altogether.

Additionally, Apple is planning to add new workout types to Fitness + with iOS 16. On top of that, there may also be an Instacart-like service that integrates with nutrition data in the Health app. Gurman noted that the service seems potentially complex to implement and therefore may never see the light of day.

Finally, the analyst added that substantial updates could arrive for Apple TV + this year.
