A recent filing Apple CEO Tim Cook had with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reveals that the CEO donated 50,000 Apple Stock shares (worth more than $6.5 million) to a charity. For those who were wondering, the current Apple stock price is a little more than $130 a share. Apple did not disclose which charity/charities the money went to, but this is obviously not the first time Cook did something philanthropic and gave back to the community.

Not too long ago, Cook made a donation to the Human Rights Campaign’s Project One America. The project focused on LGBT rights in the South and this was back in December of last year. Cook’s recent donation comes only half a year after the previous donation. In the last few years, Cook also auctioned off one-on-one lunches and donated all proceeds to the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights.

Cook has made it clear since becoming CEO of Apple in 2011 that giving back to the community is a key part of Apple’s mission. In March he also noted that he had plans to give away all of his wealth to charity for the rest of his life. Any thoughts of this? Share with us in the section below.
