With the presentation of the iPhone 11 now a couple of weeks away, today, ChargerLAB has stated in a tweet that the iPhone 11 will finally abandon the 5 W charger and will instead include a USB-C charger and a Lightning to USB cable -C in the package.
This should mean that the iPhone will be supplied with a rapid charger for the first time, even if the connector on the device will still be Lightning.
The Kong ChargerLAB website stated in a tweet that Apple will eliminate its original 5-watt charger and instead will include a USB-C charger that will allow iPhone charging times twice as fast without leaving the Lightning connector. It is said that the loss was confirmed by a “high-level executive “, according to the site.
ChargerLAB has a mixed track record when it comes to Apple rumours. The site erroneously stated that the USB-C charger would arrive on OLED iPhones last year, although Apple has launched a USB-C charger in its iPad Pro 2018 models, which now have USB-C ports instead of Lightning.
It is unclear if this is accurate, however, as a different report from Mac Otakara states that Apple will continue to include a 5W charger with a USB-A to Lightning cable with the iPhone 2019 line.
Anyway, we’ll know soon. Apple is expected to announce its new iPhone range at a multimedia event next month, most likely September 10th. Like the 2018 iPhones, the new range should consist of 5.8 and 6.5 inch OLED devices along with a cheaper 6.1-inch iPhone LCD.
The new iPhones will be largely similar to last year’s models, with the exception of the new rear camera configurations. We do not know for sure how Apple will call the new iPhone, but iPhone 11 is a possibility for the successors of the iPhone XS.
