The company will not include the EarPods in the iPhone 12 package to encourage the demand for second-generation AirPods and AirPods Pro and prepare for a completely wireless future.
In May, Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple will not include EarPods in the iPhone 12 package.
Apple has included earphones since the first iPhone (the first model also included other accessories in the box such as a charging dock). So if true, this would be the first time that Apple would not include headphones in the iPhone package.
Now, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives confirms Kuo’s report: ” from our checks we have found that Apple will probably not include the iPhone 12 EarPods package “. Ultimately, this will help Apple drive AirPods sales.
Analyst Wedbush believes that Apple will sell 85 million AirPods in 2020 , compared to the estimated 65 million in 2019.
The company is expected to update the AirPods line with a new model called ” AirPods Studio “, which could be announced already at WWDC 2020. You can find all the full features on the new headphones in our full article.
As for the iPhone 12 itself, Wedbush continues to expect a four new models with a combination of 4G and 5G models. Recently there have been conflicting reports that all iPhone 12 models supported the 5G network and more specifically at which bands and frequencies.
Wedbush predicts that the iPhone 12 model for the American market will support mmWave . mmWave supports high bandwidth networks but struggles to penetrate walls, which means that the service is generally not available indoors. The implementation of mmWave is also limited internationally, as most operators adopt the sub-6 GHz standard.
Finally, the analyst says that the company has overcome all the production difficulties caused by the Coronavirus and that the new iPhone 12 models will be available in early October.
Do you think Apple should still include the EarPods in the package of the new iPhones or maybe offer the first generation AirPods?
