For a long time, it has been rumored that Apple is working on a new version of the AirPods . In this article, we’ve rounded up all the rumors leaked so far about the company’s new true wireless earbuds.
Design
The third-generation AirPods will feature a similar design to the AirPods Pro , with a shorter stem and replaceable silicone ear tips that are better able to fit a wider range of ears.
In November 2020, Japanese blog MacOtakara shared an image of the alleged AirPods 3, confirming rumours about the new Apple earphone design.
Hardware
The new AirPods will adopt the System-in-Package design, replacing the second generation rigid-flexible + SMT PCB design.
Also, the AirPods 3 are expected to be cheaper and won’t have Premium features like Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode . However, battery life could be improved and there are rumors that Apple is also working on a new wireless chip.
Price
The new true wireless earbuds should have the same price as the current generation, which is € 229 for the version with the wireless charging case and € 179 for the model with the standard charging case.
Release date
According to several rumors, the earphones will be released in the first half of 2021, and if Apple holds an event in March, the AirPods 3 could be presented during the keynote.
