Samsung anticipates Apple and its AirTags by introducing SmartTags to the market.

During the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung presented the SmartTags, a small square-shaped accessory equipped with a Bluetooth LE module that allows you to locate objects.

SmartTag measures 4x4m and has a thickness of approximately 1 cm. The accessory is equipped with a 220 mAh CR2032 battery and, as stated by the company, guarantees an autonomy of 280 days before being replaced.

Coming later this year, SmartTag + offers the same functionality but with the addition of UWB technology. This allows for greater accuracy when searching for your article. Instead of reporting to the user only when he is approaching, UWB can tell him the exact direction of his object , also using the smartphone’s augmented reality.

Tracking via BLE will be available on all compatible Galaxy devices, while UWB-based tracking will be available exclusively on Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Finally, Samsung took the opportunity to announce the arrival in Italy of the SmartThings Find service , which helps to quickly track Galaxy devices: it uses BLE and UWB technology to allow the identification of Galaxy smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and headsets. The function will soon be available through an update of the SmarThings app.
