Shazam, owned by Apple, announces that it has reached 200 million monthly active users.

Shazam , the music recognition app Apple bought in 2018, has surpassed 200 million monthly active users worldwide.

Shazam is available as a standalone app and as a built-in feature on iPhone and iPad, accessible via Siri and via the Control Center in iOS 14.

Oliver Schusser , vice president of Apple Music, Beats and International Content, commented on this result stating that Apple and Shazam offer a “ seamless experience ” for music lovers:

“‌Apple Music‌ and Shazam offer a seamless experience to music lovers around the world, from Shazam’s ubiquitous discovery platform to unmatched content from ‌Apple Music‌, live global radio stations and more. Looking back on our long history together, we can only see how close the missions have been: to offer a home for music lovers and creators from around the world ”.

To celebrate, Shazam shared a list of the 100 most Shazamed tracks ever worldwide , with the list available on Apple Music. The hottest song ever is the Tones and I pop single “Dance Monkey” with over 36.6 million Shazam.

The singer said the platform had a significant impact on her song:

“Shazam has been a crucial platform for reaching more people. I didn’t have a following when I released “Dance Monkey”, but it gave me the opportunity to reach more people and elevate my fan base. Shazam is definitely an app designed to help unknown artists. “

The second most Shazamed song was “Prayer in C” by Lilly Wood & The Prick and Robin Schulz, while the third most Shazamed song was “Let Her Go” by Passenger.
