Apple offers a huge amount of improvements to the iPhone camera in iOS 14, with functionality coming to the main camera app previously reserved for professional-grade apps.
Apple’s iOS 14 brings the QuickTake feature introduced for iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max to iPhone XR, XS and XS Max.
QuickTake is a function that allows us to record videos by holding down the shutter button in photo mode so that we can immediately capture a video without having to change modes.
QuickTake has also been added to the new iPhone SE 2020.
In addition, Apple has released a resource that lists the main improvements in the new operating system. A specific focus that the company applied during development was the default Camera app and what it can do.
Specifically, the company says iOS 14 has ” improved hit-to-hit performance .” Apple says users can take photos up to 90% faster , up to 4 frames per second. Plus, shooting in Portrait mode is up to 15% faster .
In night mode, on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, the camera will use the gyroscope to provide a guide indicator to help photographers stay still during the capture.
Finally, with iOS 14, users can lock an exposure compensation value for photos and videos for an entire camera session. At the same time, you can also lock the focus and exposure of the camera for a specific shot.
