Despite ongoing coronavirus problems affecting Apple’s supply chain in China, it seems that cheap iPhone production is in its final stages.

From the report:

The new iPhone LCD enters the final verification phase. Apple will soon introduce a new series of iPhone LCDs, tentatively nicknamed SE2, which has recently entered the final verification phase at an assembly plant in Zhengzhou, China, according to industry sources.

Apple is expected to announce an entry-level iPhone nicknamed ” iPhone SE 2 ” or ” iPhone 9 ” within the next few months. The device should resemble the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch LCD screen and a home Touch ID button, but with a faster A13 chip and 3 GB of RAM. The estimated starting price is around $ 399 (around € 509 in Italy) with 64 GB of storage space in the United States.

Last month, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is still planning to release the iPhone in the first half of 2020. Several reports have indicated that the company plans to announce the device by the end of March, but such plans may change due to the uncertainty of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic worldwide.

With major tech conferences like Google I / O and Facebook F8 being cancelled on a physical basis due to public health considerations, it seems increasingly unlikely that Apple will hold an event in March. The Cupertino giant could always announce the low-cost iPhone and other products with press releases, offering one-to-one briefings with the media in Cupertino and New York City.

Although the low-cost iPhone is announced in March, the initial supply may be limited until Foxconn and other Apple suppliers resume normal operations and accelerate mass production in the second quarter.
